Simply providing employees with Safety Work Gloves is not enough. For a start it’s important to be aware that sometimes safety gloves are about the safety of something besides the wearer. But it’s often no good simply covering your hands up with any old couple of work gloves that arrived at hand and assuming that any protection surpasses no protection at just about all. This might seem to make some sense on the surface, but in fact more often than not having the wrong type of hand protection can actually increase the amount of danger or risk.
In situations where the danger may not necessarily be markedly increased there are another problem though : comfort. If work gloves are uncomfortable then this can impair concentration at operate, or even result with people removing gloves for periods at any given time simply to relieve the discomfort. This is frequently when most hand injuries might take place, simply because no adequate protection is provided.
There are several factors to consider when choosing whether or not the work gloves or safety gloves you’re considering using are truly fitted to the task, and to your hands. Is dexterity more likely important? If you’re coping with small tools or objects on say a manufacturing plant production line then plainly having great thick leather gauntlets is not only unnecessary, but a clear hindrance. But there may very well be other times when dexterity may very well be reasonably important, when handling sharp tools, powerful tools or operating machinery.
In all these cases it’s going to important to identify whether or not the work gloves provide enough flexibility for any task. Cotton gloves will be the best for this. However, cotton gloves offer no protection and in some cases grip may be required, which cotton is likely to make a problem. If this is the outcome then choose cotton gloves using a nitrile covering on the palm and within the fingers. This combines dexterity and comfort with good grip.
Will you be wearing the gloves for a long time? If you’re only putting the gloves on for some minutes at a time then comfort are probably not the most important factor. But if you’re visiting spend much of your day wearing them then it’s going to be a vital factor. Choose gloves which were a good fit, not too loose and not too tight. Seamless gloves are a good idea too because they are not as likely to rub, and if possible always choose breathable leather gloves. This may include this wrist support too.
Maybe there is direct danger to the hands? This may include cutting, abrasion and vibration. For each type of danger a different type of work glove is required. Some work gloves are designed to offer protection against cutting, others provide protection from impact or vibration. Identify the kind of risk, and make sure the safety gloves you decide on are specifically designed to offer that type of cover, otherwise any protection they do offer may very well be null and void.
